Metz Updates Popular Mecablitz Digital Flashes for the Sony Multi Interface Hot Shoe

    New Metz 44 AF-1

Metz, a leading manufacturer of high‑performance flash technology, has enhanced its flash unit range, introducing two new Sony versions of the Mecablitz 44 AF-1 digital (MZ 44316SNEW) and Mecablitz 52 AF-1 digital (MZ 52316SNEW). The two new models come equipped with updated feet for cameras with the Sony Multi Interface flash shoe and no longer require the use of an adapter. Metz premium flash products are distributed in the US exclusively by Manfrotto Distribution, Inc.

Following Sony’s integration of its Multi Interface flash shoe to its digital cameras, Metz made modifications to its Sony-compatible flash units to adapt to the cameras accordingly, ensuring convenience and ease-of-use for photographers. Metz’s new versions of the 44 AF-1 digital and 52 AF-1 digital flash units no longer require a flash shoe adapter, as the units now are designed with the corresponding feet for the new system. A corresponding adapter is required for users who wish to connect these new flash units with the conventional Sony/Minolta flash shoe.

“Metz is always quick to adapt to the ever-changing camera systems in the market,” said Lynda Falby, Product Manager of Lighting at Manfrotto Distribution. “We’re confident that the convenience of having a dedicated flash that’s fully compatible with the new Multi Interface shoe will be well received by all Sony users looking to experience the power and versatility that only Metz can provide.”

The new 44 AF-1 digital is replacing the MZ 44316S and is available now at retailers nationwide for $223.00, while the new 52 AF-1 digital is replacing the MZ 52316S and is available for $329.99.
