Snow Press Release

Transworld SNOWboarding Kicks off 28th Year; Announces New Editorial Hires

TransWorld SNOWboarding kicks off its 28th season with a bang! The September Issue just released, delivering hard-hitting snowboarding action, news, stories, and gear to over 100,000 subscribers, and newsstand readers.

Gracing our cover for the fourth time in his career is Rider Of The Year Winner, Gigi Rüf. Gigi was in Greenland filming for the new Pirate Crew movie Perceptions when he stumbled upon the largest natural quarterpipe ever seen, and Gigi busted a perfect method.

The issue also features an updated layout. The photo-driven Wallpaper section has been moved up front and several new gear columns were added, including Crafted and Deconstructed, which were designed to give a deeper look into products.

    New Hires

TransWorld SNOWboarding is proud to announce multiple editorial hires. Scott Yorko joins the team as the Product Editor, a newly created position at the brand. Scott brings years of experience working for titles such as Outside and Men’s Journal, as well as freelancing for Playboy and Vice. “With the industry going through some hardships over the past few years, it was imperative that we maximize the excitement of new and innovative products being released in snowboarding,” says Nick Hamilton. “Scott combines a life-long snowboard passion with next-level testing and journalism experience with gear.” Following the huge success of the Good Wood Board Test, TransWorld SNOWboarding plans to increase product testing and reviews.

Mike Basher also joins the team as a dedicated product photographer who will help deliver stunning imagery consistent with the TransWorld brand. Mike is the best in the business, has a long history in snowboard editorial, and a strong product understanding, making him a natural fit.

On the digital front TransWorld SNOWboarding has never been stronger. A redesigned TWSNOW.com launched this past season, leading to record traffic including one million unique visitors mark in February. Helping to take TransWorld SNOWboarding digital growth even further is long-time contributing photographer Ben Birk who joins the team as web editor. “Ben’s talented eye for photography is prime for our brand, especially with the importance of compelling photos to bring the audience to the site and engage with our social posts,” says Nick Hamilton.

Senior Videographer, Justin Gunson, made the move from Colorado to California and joins the team as in-house Video Department Manager. Justin will be managing all of the TransWorld SNOWboarding video channels, including content on the number one snowboarding website in the world TWSNOW.com.

TransWorld SNOWboarding also welcomes Scott Seiver as Art Director. Scott’s past experiences are extremely well rounded and position him to increase the brand’s presence across all channels. Scott has worked on editorial, digital at the agency level, and branding at Chemistry Surfboards.

The new hires join Managing Editor Gerhard Gross, Photo Director Chris Wellhausen, and Content Director Nick Hamilton. Meet the staff.
