In March, a group of athletes traveled to the Valle Blanche, near Chamonix, France, to check out the powder. Unlike the skiers and snowboarders who surrounded them, these athletes were there to go down the runs on heavy-duty mountain bikes.
The group began their 10-mile expedition down the mountain, but quickly learned they underestimated how challenging it would be to get across the crevasses and slushy snow. But they were dedicated and finished the trek in six hours.
