MIO and Verde PR Partner to Drive Outdoor and Fitness Industry Brand Communications

MIO, a pioneer in wearable performance heart rate monitoring tech. has tapped Verde PR to lead brand communications.

MIO, a pioneer in wearable performance heart rate monitoring technology, has tapped Verde PR & Consulting to lead brand communications in the outdoor and fitness markets, effective immediately.  This move will further strengthen the PR efforts MIO has been building since the product launch earlier this year.

MIO has had great success since the debut of its ground-breaking Alpha sport watch in January 2013. Verde will continue the momentum of that launch and build brand reach for forthcoming MIO product technologies by bridging the MIO brand offerings to athletes who train both indoors and outdoors.

“Verde has built a proven track record in the outdoor and fitness industries since it was founded in 2002. The agency’s many years of experience with media and influencers in these communities makes Verde an ideal partner to further the MIO story and garner even greater exposure for our products,” said Liz Dickinson, CEO and founder of MIO. “I am excited to kick off this partnership at such a meaningful time for our company, and I am thrilled to be working with such a strong partner.”

MIO was founded in 1999 when Dickinson created the world’s first strapless heart rate monitor sport watch with a patented calorie management system, and the company’s success has grown from there.

The launch of the MIO Alpha rocked the consumer electronics market with the newest innovative technology in the heart rate monitoring category and continues to gain momentum. The MIO Alpha is the world’s first performance-level, continuous heart rate sport watch without a chest strap. Teaming a sleek, low-profile watch design with performance-level, patented strapless heart rate monitor technology, the MIO Alpha raised the bar in terms of what athletes should expect from a wrist-mounted heart rate monitor. The MIO Alpha has been tested accurate at speeds up to 14mph and uses Bluetooth Smart to connect with smart phones and operate with a variety of fitness apps.

MIO’s mission is to offer innovative technology that provides accurate heart rate information through simple, well-designed products for athletes of all levels to support personal performance goals.

“Performance-driven, wearable electronics are trending so strongly right now among committed athletes – both indoor and outdoor. The MIO product range brings a fresh approach to fitness monitoring in the core outdoor and fitness spaces,” said Kristin Carpenter-Ogden, CEO and founder of Verde. “Verde’s proven experience furthering a client’s endemic reach while concurrently bringing that core story to new consumers will deliver multi-channel results to MIO, driving visibility and engagement to core audiences.”
