    Food Safety Analyst

    Clif Bar & Company is looking for a FOOD SAFETY ANALYST to join our Food Safety and Integrity (FSI) Team.

    The Food Safety Analyst will work with new and existing suppliers to ensure adherence to Clif Bar & Company (CB&C) food safety policies.  The ideal candidate will recognize real and potential food safety risks at our suppliers and work cross-functionally to mitigate.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Manages CB&C food safety program as it relates to new and existing suppliers.  Program includes managing supplierqualifications, enforcing CB&C criteria, monitoring supplier performance, and establishing or updating processes, as needed.
    • Manages the supplier approval and reapproval programs:
      • Communicates CB&C criteria to suppliers
      • Manages incoming documents
      • Reviews documents and provides risk assessments to internal team
      • Manages corrective actions
      • Communicates supplier approval status and updates to key internal contacts
    • Responsible for communication and follow-up with suppliers, internal teams, and consumers as required.
    • Contributes to maintaining a current and up-to-date list of “Vendors of Concern” and works to mitigate risks.
    • Supports internal teams and works cross-functionally to qualify secondary suppliers for key ingredients.
    • Supports internal teams and works cross-functionally to identify and qualify potential co-packers and distribution centers.
    • Provides technical support for food safety, public health, and quality issues.
    • Contributes to the creation, implementation, and management of CB&C food safety strategy, standards, and programs forsuppliers, co-packers, and products.
    • Supports internal process and system improvements for risk assessment, data analysis, and documentation management.
    • Contributes to the development of FSI annual plans, priorities, and objectives.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Technical Expertise Required

    • Strong understanding of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Allergen Control, Environmental Monitoring, Sanitation, Foreign Material Control, Audit Schemes, etc.).
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SharePoint.
    • Knowledge of organic regulations, FDA & USDA Requirements, and FSMA.

    Education/Training Required

    • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Food Science or related.
    • 3+ years’ experience in food safety, quality assurance, technical services or related field.
    • HACCP certified a plus.
    • Food Safety or Quality experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.

    Travel Required

    • Less than 5% travel to ingredient and packaging suppliers, as needed.
