    Social Media Coordinator

    Outdoor Industry Association is looking for a part-time social media coordinator to grow our social presence, increase our engagement and social interactions and help convert interactions to leads, customers, active fans and amplifiers of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a knack for driving social conversations, responding to interactions in a professional, yet fun manner, possess strong knowledge of best practices and trends in social media marketing and understand how to both build and convert a digital audience.

    Creativity is encouraged. We are looking for someone with an entertaining and enthusiastic personality who can inject some energy and excitement into our mostly B2B social presence.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build and manage the company’s social media platforms and presence, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, and potentially additional channels (Instagram, Vine, etc.).
    • Create shareable content appropriate for specific networks to both spread our brand and our content and links.
    • Listen and engage in relevant social discussion about our organization, members, and industry, both from existing customers and leads and from brand new audiences that don’t yet know us.
    • Run regular social promotions and campaigns and track their success, ranging from Twitter chats, to Google+ Hangouts, to LinkedIn conversations.
    • Work alongside other marketers and content producers to help distribute content that educates and entertains our audience.
    • Drive consistent, relevant traffic and leads from our social network presence.
    • Explore new ways to engage and new social networks to reach our target audiences.
    • Working with OIA’s marketing team, generate new ideas and creative campaigns

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIP

    The Social Media Coordinator reports to and performs all related job duties as assigned by the Digital Marketing Manager. There are no direct reports, however, the social media coordinator will manage social campaigns and social projects supported by external content contractors and other internal staff as assigned.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    • Professional, yet casual and outdoors-oriented work environment
    • Ability to work extended hours as needed
    • Ability to travel to tradeshows for a week at a time, 2-3 times a year
    • Ability to stand, bend, and lift packages up to 25lb.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience (degree can be in progress)
    • Active and well-rounded personal presence on social media, with a command of each network and its best practices
    • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
    • Proficiency in the major social media channels (You will be our ear to the ground to route the appropriate marketer, sales rep, and/or support rep to social conversations.)
    • Experience with Adobe Photoshop or related graphics software
    • Exceptional traditional writing and grammatical skills and a “flair” for using “social networking speak” and online jargon
    • Knowledge of digital and social tools: Google Analytics, HootSuite, etc.
    • Knowledge and/or experience in the outdoor industry

    Bonus experience and skills include: Adobe Creative Suite, demand generation marketing, inbound marketing, content marketing and blogging.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in digital media, marketing, graphic design, or related field
    • A minimum of 3 years digital marketing experience within a professional environment
    • A minimum of 2 years email marketing experience within a professional environment
    • Expert knowledge in: Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, HTML, CSS, and a popular ESP
    • Strong knowledge in FTP clients, WordPress, PowerPoint, Excel, and Google Analytics
    • Familiarity with Smartsheet, SalesForce, ExactTarget, or Marketing Automation is a bonus.
    • Experience in the outdoor industry is a bonus.
