    Regional Sales Manager

    The Regional Sales Manager – Mid Atlantic will be dedicated to building and executing strategic growth plans for the Mid Atlantic Territory with a primary focus on Independent Bike Dealers and Run Specialty accounts. This role is the first line of communication between GU and the retail account base to accomplish the key objectives set by the National Sales Manager. The individual in this position is expected to both drive growth within existing account base and to develop new business in core distribution channels.  The National Sales Manager will look to this position to build a territory-specific strategic plan incorporating at least the following elements:  regional market analysis, promotional calendar, evaluation of the competition, identification and tracking of new business targets, review of growth opportunities in key accounts, brand merchandising and customer service.

    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Work with the National Sales Manager to map out and execute growth plans within the Mid-Atlantic region, offering clear and constructive strategic insight into regional market trending and opportunities in addition to providing in-depth territory analysis on a continual basis.
    • Relentlessly pursue sales and customer service improvement to our current retail base.  Determine support levels needed from the Customer Service team and independent sales representatives.
    • Find, develop, and close new business opportunities with a focus on the Bike and Run markets.
    • Examine, Evaluate, and present to Sales leadership on new business opportunities in team sports, general sports and fitness markets.
    • Develop and maintain long-lasting customer relationships; visit key accounts regularly as needed and proactively/promptly respond to retailer inquiries, acting as the direct and primary contact between the Customer and GU.
    • Collaborate with store owners to position new and existing product in an effort to gain brand and product focus generating high levels of ongoing consumer interest, in addition to managing seasonal promotions and educational forums.
    • Determine trade and consumer show presence identifying greater impact opportunities for the Region and lobby for best booth locations, in addition to acting as the “face of GU” to support both trade and consumer events/expos within the Eastern region as a whole.
    • Manage the existing Rep groups within the territory to maximize the return on investment within these relationships.
    • Other accountabilities, projects, and duties as may be assigned from time to time

     Experience, Skills & Attributes:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field of work is required. Professional sales training is preferred.
    • 3+ years of relevant sales experience, including a track record of business development, and sales goal success.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop sales plans, forecasts and budgets and to manage the sales cycle as the department champion.
    • Hands-on knowledge and experience of sports nutrition niche and the run, bike and outdoor industries; personal knowledge and passion for GU products highly desired.
    • Proven leadership and personnel management experience including motivating, training and developing teams and individuals.
    • Team player with willingness to work cooperatively across all departments and organizational levels to meet business objectives.
    • Effective and professional written and oral communication skills.
    • Proficiency with various business software packages.
    • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of a growing and changing organization.
    • Strong work ethic to enthusiastically create, persist and achieve ambitious goals.
    • Resourceful and innovative at tackling challenges in a sustainable, proactive fashion.
