    Job Description

    Best known as the manufacturer of GORE-TEX fabrics for garments and footwear, Gore manufactures a wide range of high-performance fabrics engineered to protect wearers in the most demanding environments-from explorers on the North Pole to firefighters, soldiers, and emergency workers. We are looking for a New Product Development Engineer to join our Fabrics team in Elkton, MD.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Rapidly becoming technically knowledgeable about many of the Fabrics product platforms and capabilities
    • Designing and conducting experiments
    • Generating and evaluating prototypes
    • Assessing products’ fitness for use via field trials, test-method development, and interaction with end users
    • Developing a fundamental understanding of materials/processes/product performance interactions
    • Ensuring completion of process scale-up and validation
    • Driving the use of stage gate process(es), product concepts, and project reviews
    • Leading projects, project teams, and, eventually, some of our more significant product platform development efforts
    • Collaborating with:
      • Existing businesses and our emerging product platforms to identify and assess the feasibility of new market opportunities and new technologies
      • Internal and external teams in the U.S. and internationally

    Required Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
    • At least 5 years’ engineering experience
    • Demonstrated success in project leadership/project management
    • Demonstrated successful leadership of small, cross-functional teams
    • Proven track record of driving projects to closure within budget and time constraints
    • Proven problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proven ability to prioritize appropriately
    • Ability to travel up to 10%, both domestically and internationally

    Desirable Job Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering
    • Advanced engineering degree
    • At least 5 years’ new-product development or process development experience
    • Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Knowledge of/experience with statistical principles and analysis
