The GoPro Mountains Games, the country’s largest celebration of athletes, music, art and mountain lifestyle, is also one of the most family friendly festivals of the summer. This year, the Vail Valley Foundation, organizer of the annual event, is hunting for the “Ultimate Mountain Family” to host at the GoPro Mountain Games and reward with a prize package of premium gear from partners like GoPro, Thule, Eddie Bauer, Native Eyewear, Gerber, Klean Kanteen, LED Lensor and others.

“We think this is the biggest and best family event in Colorado, if not the country,” says Mike Imhof, Senior Vice President of Sales & Operations for the Vail Valley Foundation. “Every year families from all over come to the GoPro Mountain Games to compete, try new sports and enjoy Vail in the summer. Through this contest, we’re excited to celebrate the most adventurous family we can find.”

To enter the Ultimate Mountain Family contest simply upload a photo of your family enjoying an adventure of any kind and share it on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #UltimateMtnFamily. All submissions will be featured in a gallery on the GoPro Mountain Games website and Facebook page. The public will vote for their top five favorite submissions, from which the winner will be picked at random.

The winning family will be named the “2014 Ultimate Mountain Family” and awarded a deluxe GoPro Mountain Games prize package that includes two nights lodging at a Vail hotel, free-race entries for the entire family, VIP gift bags and a stockpile of premium outdoor gear including a GoPro HERO3+ camera and accessories, a Thule Apex bike rack, RideAlong bike seat, Coaster bike trailer and Chasm duffels, an Eddie Bauer tent and apparel, a Gerber Gear multi-tool, 2 pairs of Native Eyewear shades, Klean Kanteen water bottles, a LED Lensor headlamp, a Fugoo Portable Speaker System and more.

The GoPro Mountain Games has a long history of offering family friendly activities and competitions. In 2013, nearly a quarter of attendees were families and almost three quarters of families brought along kids under the age of 18. Over the course of the four-day festival kids can try kayaking, rock climbing, stand-up paddling, yoga, slacklining and ziplining, all for free. Kids under 12 can also race for free in the Thule X-Country Mountain Bike race on Vail Mountain. Another popular family activity is “swag hunting” in Gerber Gear Town, where over 80 different exhibitors offer free prizes, demos and product samples.

Dogs are also a welcome part of the family at the GoPro Mountain Games. Pro and amateur canine athletes can compete in the DockDogs Speed Retrieve, Big Air and Extreme Vertical competitions. Dogs and their owners can also compete together in the Eukanuba Rocky Dog Trail Run or the Eddie Bauer BADASS DASH’s canine obstacle course.
