Last week at the OutDoor trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, Big Agnes won a coveted INDUSTRY AWARD for its Fly Creek UL2 tent. This award is the fourth recognition for the Fly Creek tent series, including Backpacker Magazine’s Editors’ Choice Award and Outside Magazine’s Gear of the Year.

“To be surrounded by such great competition in the tent category at OutDoor and receive this award is a terrific honor,” Bill Gamber, Big Agnes co-founder and president. “The Fly Creek UL2 has provided shelter for our customers on backpacking trips across the globe and underscores our commitment to a simple yet innovative design philosophy.”

The Fly Creek UL2 tent is a compact, double-walled, free-standing structure that weighs 1lb 15oz. The three-season tent features a DAC Featherlite NFL pole system with press fit connectors and lightweight hubs made with an eco-friendly anodizing process. The ultralight nylon rip-stop floor and fly have a 1200mm waterproof polyurethane coating and the mesh body offers excellent ventilation.

According the the OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD jury, “The Fly Creek UL2 is the lightest double walled, freestanding tent to weigh in at only 879g and has been completely redesigned. The best tent on the market today for backpacking and lightweight trekking anywhere in the world.”

The OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD is the globally acknowledged award for innovative outdoor products. The award – presented during the OutDoor trade fair – draws the attention of the entire industry and the press towards the award-winning products and manufacturers. The winners of the OutDoor INDUSTRY AWARD are chosen by an independent jury of competent experts during a session headed by the Deutsche Designer Club (DDC).
