High Sierra Announces SporTour Collection for Active Travelers

    Cirque 30

For 2014 and 2015, High Sierra is releasing a number of new packs. From small day bags to rolling luggage, the brand is truly aiming to deliver a product for everyone. I was able to check out the new releases at this year’s Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, all of which are summarized below, as well as some updated options.

    Piton 30, 35

New for spring 2014 was the Piton 30 and Piton 35 for women, both of which are ideal lightweight packs for day trips—and maybe even an overnight, depending on how minimal of a packer you are. Both include adjustable, padded straps, a top-load main compartment with a gusseted drawstring closure and adjustable top lid. The straps are made with HEX-VENT mesh and an adjustable sternum strap. There is one aluminum frame bar that can be moved to fit the specific shape of your back. The Piton is made with Mini-Hex Ripstop, Mini-Weave Duralite, 1680D Ballistic nylon, and has room for a hydration system. I was able to test out the Piton 30 earlier this summer, so check out my review for more details.

    Cirque 30

This popular pack was redesigned for release in 2014—a lightweight day pack that works well on the trail or on a bike. The Cirque 30 is made from Mini-Hex Ripstop, Mini-Weave Duralite, and 1680D Ballistic nylon. It features a front-load main compartment and zippered front compartment, both of which have a mesh organizer panel for your smaller items. It has a laptop/tablet sleeve built in, and a molded foam back panel with wicking channels, as well as the option for a hydration reservoir.

    Ascender 40

This pack is actually from 2013, but it proved to be a very popular overnight option made with Mini-Hex Ripstop, Mini-Weave Duralite, and 1680D Ballistic nylon. It’s a panel-load, multi-compartment pack with a contoured aluminum frame bar that is adjustable. The Ascender 40 also has a molded foam back panel with mesh padding that wicks away moisture. There are two side pockets that can fit water bottles, as well as hardware holds that can fit gear such as an ice axe or hiking poles.
