Detonate is proud to announce the addition of Jon Roseman to our world class team of watermen. Jon’s incredible level of surfing , his personality, and positive endeavors are a testament to who Jon is to surfing and the world community.

Roseman is from La Jolla, California. He started surfing at the age of 7 and it soon became his life-long passion. He participated in various surf competitions throughout high school, traveling extensively to Hawaii, Mexico and Indonesia.

In 1989 after attending UC Santa Barbara where he studied Economics and Philosophy and was a member of the University Surf Team, he became involved with Tavarua Island in Fiji where he is now one of the Managing Directors. During this time he helped start the Fiji Surfing Association and coached the first Fijian surfing team in the South Pacific Games. Jon has also devoted himself to helping the local Fijian community. He was instrumental in establishing the Scripps Hospital/Fiji Health Alliance to provide overseas urgent medical treatment to locals with severe cases as well as to donate medical equipment and provide advanced medical training by overseas doctors to Fijian hospitals.

His involvement also includes numerous other non-profit organizations that aid the locals including the Surfing Medical Association, the Loloma Foun- dation and the Caukobata Foundation. Today Jon remains active in the Fijian community and also in his hometown of La Jolla, where he served as President of the WindanSea Surf Club and is involved with the local surfing community and various charities. He has appeared in Endless Summer, II (1994) and Castaway (2000), in which he was an advisor as well as official stunt double for Tom Hanks. Jon sits on the Center for Surf Research advisory board and has been instrumental in its development.

Jon’s recent addition to the Detonate Team has already had a huge impact., We are very excited to work closely with him on our team and marketing efforts. Our Windansea based crew has deep roots in surfing, and we are all stoked to be working together to introduce the Detonate brand.
