During the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market last week, I was able to check out the products Ahnu has lined up for its spring collection. The brand is expanding its hiking and lifestyle lines with lightweight boots and casual shoes for men, and additions to the yoga collection as well as everyday shoes for women.

Men’s Mount Tam Air Mesh

“The Sugarpine Collection was the big break in of something more lightweight on the women’s hiking side, but they didn’t do anything similar for men until this season,” said Jenny Radloff from Outside PR. “Now, they have the Mount Tam Air Mesh, which is the male version of the Sugarpine Air Mesh. It’s really lightweight, but you don’t lose any of the performance and stability. It still has a lot nice heel support, with a lot of flex and give in the forefoot, so you don’t get any of that clunky hiking boot feel.”

This is a sporty, breathable hiking shoe ideal for day hikes with or without a pack. If you are carrying a pack, ensure it’s 50 pounds or less for optimal performance from the shoes. This style is available for men, retailing for $110. The Mount Tam Air Mesh is also available in a fully waterproof version, the Mount Tam Waterproof, which offers less breathability but more protection at a price of $130. A comparable style for women is the Sugarpine Air Mesh.

Men’s 49 Mile

This is a casual, rugged lace-up walking shoe that has the performance of an athletic shoe. Its stylish look makes this a shoe that can be worn all day with complete comfort, to be paired with casual wear or active wear. This is available for men for $160.

Karma Latitude

Ahnu has expanded its yoga collection to include the Karma Latitude, which is a criss-cross ballet flat featuring adjustable straps. This is perfect for everyday wear and its flexible back allows for it to be easily slipped on and off. This is perfect for those with a higher instep, and is available for women for $95.

Telegraph Leather

This shoe is an everyday mary jane, but with the performance and comfort of an athletic shoe. It can be worn all day and is perfect paired with jeans, providing comfort in a stylish shoe. It’s available for women for $100. A comparable show for men is the North Beach.
