    Nicaragua to Host 2014 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship

    The International Surfing Association has announced details for the 2014 ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship, which will be held in Nicaragua from May 3 to 11. This is the third year of the competition’s existence, drawing in the most talented men and women in the sport to compete in 11 disciplines of SUP Surfing, SUP Racing Technical, SUP Racing Distance, Paddleboarding Racing Technical, and Distance.

    More than 240 athletes from 24 different countries will be competing, comprising 24 teams. One Gold Medal National Team will be awarded at the end. Events will be held daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Those registered to compete in SUP Surfing will ride waves at La Boquita, located on the Pacific coast of Central Nicaragua. Those competing in SUP Racing and Paddleboarding disciplines will compete on the northwest area of Lake Nicaragua in Granada, which is the largest lake in Central America and the 19th largest in the world.
