Nau, Dansko, Jaybird, Hottotties by Terramar and Giro sign on early to engage with Consumer Media at Innagural Event

Interbike and Outdoor Retailer, two of the largest retail sports product trade shows in the world, announced today that their upcoming event, The Women’s Story, has signed several key brand participants and media. Leading brands including, Jaybird, Dansko, Nau, Hottotties by Terramar and Giro have signed on to participate. A number of additional notable brands are close to committing to participate in this new experiential media event. Universal Sports Network is confirmed to cover the event along with other consumer media outlets.

The Women’s Story will focus on connecting cycling and outdoor product manufacturers with mainstream New York City-area consumer journalists to test the latest in women’s-specific products during an intimate two day hands-on media event. The event will take place June 10-12, 2014 at the Crystal Springs Resort in Northern New Jersey. The resort offers the ideal setting for mountain bike riding, trail running, stand up paddling, fly fishing and other planned outdoor activities. Invited journalists will have an opportunity to truly understand the mechanics behind these women’s-specific products by riding or testing them in the environments in which they were designed to be used.

“We are excited about the opportunity to be a part of The Women’s Story,” said Lindsey Morse, Nau Marketing. “With the growing interest of women who seek fashionable activewear, Nau’s designs offer a range of modern apparel and outerwear designed to seamlessly integrate into every aspect of their active lifestyle in and out of the city.”

The Women’s Story is endorsed by several industry and advocacy organizations, including the Outdoor Industry Women’s Coalition, the Outdoor Industry Association and PeopleForBikes. The OIA and PeopleForBikes will speak at the event to introduce key metrics and important data pertaining to the size, growth and trends in the women’s cycling and outdoor products market.

Truth Be Told Public Relations (TBTPR) of Beverly Hills, CA and New York, NY will secure key consumer media journalists for the event. TBTPR has extensive experience with top-tier local and national media outlets, and will work to manage media invitations and inquiries. Targeted media for this event include Self, Shape, Allure, Bazaar, W, Vanity Fair, InStyle, Lucky, Elle, New York Times, Vogue and numerous other non-endemic titles.

Universal Sports Network (USN) has signed on to produce a number of product and trend vignettes to be broadcast via their website as well as their affiliates. USN offers more than 1,200 hours of original programming each year, and holds exclusive rights to world and national championship events in a wide array of sports, including cycling, swimming, track and field, marathon, triathlon, gymnastics, volleyball, skiing, figure skating and rugby. The network offers a multi-platform (television, online, mobile) experience to fans of global sports.

“It has become clear at both Interbike and Outdoor Retailer that women represent a powerful buying force in the industry,” said Pat Hus, Vice President of Interbike and Health and Fitness Business. “We know from listening to our exhibitors that the women’s market is incredibly important to their businesses. Our job is to help be the conduit to these customers by spreading the word through a much broader media audience. That’s the value this event provides.”

Recently added to the sponsorship package is a brand book, featuring each brand’s story regarding their women’s specific products. The publication will be broadly distributed to both Outdoor Retailer and Interbike’s attendee audience at the upcoming summer shows with an estimated circulation of 15,000.

The Women’s Story will open to local outdoor and bicycle retailers after 2pm on the final day, allowing for product demonstrations and conversations with presenting brands. Retailers interested in attending should register in advance by contacting Janina Quintana at 949-226-5784 or [email protected].
