CarteScape, Inc., a San Diego-based mobile development company, and Deer Valley Resort, one of the top five U.S. ski destinations in 2013 (ranked by Forbes), announce a joint development agreement for the new Deer Valley ski app due for release in November 2013. The customized and constantly updated mobile app provides skiers with a range of navigation and social media features while allowing resort managers to better market their services and track client metrics. The app will be available on both the iOS and Android platforms.
“We’re very excited to be working with CarteScape on our new ski app,” said Bob Wheaton, resort president and general manager. “Enhancing the guest experience, extending our range of services and facilitating a better understanding of guest needs is exactly what we were looking for in a ski app.”
The Deer Valley ski app will include GPS navigation with augmented reality in addition to an interactive map. Users will be able to record statistics of their run, tracking distance, vertical and speed. The app will have social media integration allowing the user to share photos and run statistics on Facebook and Twitter. An e-commerce component allows for easy purchase of tickets before arriving at the mountain. The user can also find friends on the mountain and arrange meeting times and locations. CarteScape app’s convenient child monitoring and boundary setting capabilities make keeping track of the kids much easier. Additionally, the app allows skiers to contact ski patrol with the touch of a button. The resort will have a slew of data analytics features organized in an elegant dashboard for reporting of key metrics.
“We’re delighted to be working with a world-class resort on their new ski app,” said Wade Harb, CEO of CarteScape, Inc. “Our new app is designed with fun and social connections in mind. Whether finding friends or tracking runs, our Deer Valley ski app makes a day on the mountain enjoyable and engaging.”
