Schmitt & Ongaro Marine Products Adds Engineering/OEM Specialist

Schmitt & Ongaro Marine Products has announced the hiring of engineer Jed Schober. He will be responsible for product development, and contributing to the company’s technical sales and OEM relations.

Schober holds an Engineering Science degree from Penn State. He will develop new offerings across the company’s line of steering wheels, horns, wiper systems and accessories. “As part of nurturing our custom boatbuilder projects, I’ll work with the industry’s top designers to create product suites for the helm area. This often transitions into new offerings in our standard line. We’ll also continue to optimize existing products to enhance quality and value,” said Schober.

The company’s specialties range from stainless steel castings to metal fabrication and polyurethane injection molding. “Jed’s technical knowledge is an excellent asset for OEM relationships. We have huge custom design capabilities, with the efficiencies to meet a client’s needs economically without sacrificing style,” said Tim Schmitt, company president.

Schober previously was an engineering supervisor for an aerospace/military composites company. He worked in Schmitt & Ongaro’s product development and prototyping departments from 2006-2009 and helped create the highly popular Evo Pro steering wheel.
