New Website Helps to Keep Campers Safe in West Virginia

The West Virginia Bureau of Public Health, a division of the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, has launched a new website to provide camping safety information at: http://www.dhhr.wv.gov/campsafety.

The new website provides valuable information for parents, camp staff and campers of all ages on how to stay safe while camping in the beautiful State of West Virginia along with comprehensive information on a variety of important topics such as water safety, wildlife safety, food safety, and heat safety.

“Camping is a fun way to get family and friends together to enjoy the outdoors,” said Loretta Haddy, Office of Epidemiology and Prevention Services director and State Epidemiologist. “This new website combines important camping safety information and guidelines from offices and divisions throughout the Bureau of Public Health in one place so that everyone can ensure their camping trip is a safe and happy one.”

The goal of the West Virginia Camp Safety website is to provide a one stop source to educate campers on how to make informed decisions regarding safety while camping. Visit http://www.dhhr.wv.gov/campsafety for more information.

The new website was developed by the Bureau for Public Health in partnership with WV.gov.
