Team Wave Sport’s Top Freestyle Kayakers Qualify for the US National Team

Team Wave Sport represents some of the best whitewater freestyle kayakers in the world, and this weekend four Team Wave Sport athletes qualified for the US National Freestyle Team at the Team Trials on the Nantahala River. Athletes Haley Mills, Elaine Campbell, and Bryan Kirk will go on to compete at the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships in September, joining Team Wave Sport’s Tyler Curtis who will be competing for the Canadian team, James Weight for the UK team, and Martin Koll for the German team.

The Team Trials were an action-packed preview to the Freestyle World Championships, as America’s most skilled kayakers performed their best freestyle moves on the Nantahala River’s 2013 Wave.

“Wave Sport is dedicated to working and playing hard – on and off the water – 365 days a year, and the Team Wave Sport athletes really brought those qualities and more to the Team Trials this weekend,” said Jessica Prescott, marketing manager at Wave Sport. “Each member of Team Wave Sport has a passion for all things whitewater, and combined with their enviable talents, competitive spirit, and unwavering commitment to our sport, we know it will be an all-star year for these athletes. We are excited to watch as their success continues this season and at the World Championships in September. ”

While Team Wave Sport athletes were competing in the Team Trials, Wave Sport joined forces with Endless River Adventures to sponsor the 9th Annual Nantahala Open. The non-competitive event, which took place at Nantahala Falls, was open to kayakers of every skill level.

In addition, Wave Sport took the opportunity to give back to the paddling community. All proceeds from the weekend’s Wave Sport raffle prizes will support Team Rive Runner.
