New ‘Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!’ Event Offers Same Fishing Fun Plus Kayaking

The popular sport of kayak fishing will be part of the next “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” seminar, hosted March 9-10 at the Matlacha Community Park, 4577 Pine Island Road N.W., Matlacha, which is just offshore of Fort Myers.

The event is held in conjunction with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) through the Sport Fish Restoration Program.

Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing! is a national organization dedicated to attracting more women to sport fishing and to promoting conservation and responsible angling.

During the two-day, hands-on event, FWC educators will demonstrate ethical angler habits, such as safe hook removal, release techniques, fish venting and more. Local fishing guides will provide instruction on kayak fishing and angling techniques. The second day offers an optional fishing trip from kayaks, pontoon boats and flats boats.

“We have chosen to host our Gulf Coast event at Matlacha, a beautiful part of the state with bountiful fishing,” commented Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing! founder Betty Bauman. “It’s a refreshing location, perfect for beginners, those who have fished before or any lady with fishing on her bucket list!”

“I learned more about fishing in two days than from my dad in 20 years,” said former participant Georgia Allen of Bonita Springs.
