In January of this year, Leatherman Tool Group, Inc., in a collaborative effort with Signal Snowboards, released a new line of snowboarding tools at the Winter Outdoor Retailer show. The release was met with great enthusiasm and interest from the market and tools were awarded the “Gear of the Show” award from Outside Magazine; a first for Leatherman at the OR show.

The company has released three new “carabiner” tools for snowboarders, Hail, Rime, Hail + Style PS as well as one full-size folding Leatherman, the Skeletool SX. Future collaboration projects for surf and skate are planned for release later this year.

As part of the new line of tools for Action Sports, the company has brought in founder Tim Leatherman’s son Lee to work on product development with Product Manager Blair Barnes and team. An avid surfer and industry insider for more than 15 years, Lee will be instrumental in helping with the design and promotion of the new surf and skate tools.
