Bellingham Marine Enters License Agreement With C.M. Ferrer S.A.

Bellingham Marine (BMI) and C.M. Ferrer S.A. announced that they have entered into an exclusive licensing agreement for the countries of Spain, France, Portugal and Italy.  The agreement provides C.M. Ferrer with a license to manufacture and sell BMI’s patented marina systems including its popular Unifloat concrete floating dock system and its Unideck® aluminum pontoon system.

The agreement reflects Bellingham’s commitment to grow its international operations. “We’re thrilled to unite Bellingham Marine’s unparalleled experience in the marina construction industry with C.M. Ferrer’s expertise in the local market,” said Everett Babbitt, president of Bellingham Marine.  “In partnership with C.M. Ferrer, BMI will be better positioned to serve clients in Spain, France, Portugal and Italy.”

C.M. Ferrer is part of a family group of businesses that have a manufacturing cluster in Spain’s Girona province.   The company has a 55 year history in precision engineering and fabrication of metal structures.

For the past several years C.M. Ferrer has supported Bellingham’s European manufacturing operations by supplying the company’s metalwork for its Unifloat system.  C.M. Ferrer’s group also owns Bellingham Marine’s existing facilities in Girona.  C.M. Ferrer will retain the casting facilities and office space for its new marina division. The company also has an additional 30,0000m² of yard space and adjacent buildings on site.  The extra space will be utilized as needed to expedite production to meet tight schedules.

Bellingham’s General Manger of its European operations, Chris Lamont, and the division’s lead staff members have been retained by C.M. Ferrer.   “After operating in the European market for nine years, we made a strategic decision to move to a licensing agreement,” remarked Babbitt.  “By consolidating our plant and staff with C.M. Ferrer’s extensive range of metalworking machinery and experience we can now truly offer any works asked in a marina project from bespoke gates and metalwork to office buildings and other amenities.”

“The Bellingham Marine brand and its range of products are among the most recognizable in the world, and this agreement gives us an opportunity to leverage that brand recognition to enter into the European marina industry,” said Josep Casellas, President of C.M. Ferrer.  “This marks a significant expansion for C.M. Ferrer and demonstrates our ability to offer a broad range of products and construction services.”

As the world’s leading marina design-build construction company, Bellingham Marine produces Unifloat concrete floating dock systems as well as timber and metal frame systems.  The company also produces Unistack dry stack systems for marinas worldwide
