Louisiana State Parks has an App for that

While free Wi-Fi is already offered in all overnight facilities, the Louisiana Office of State Parks is once again taking advantage of technology by releasing a free mobile application for iPhone and Android users. The app can be found by visiting www.LaStateParks.com and clicking on the “Download our FREE mobile app!” icon beneath the menu. Users will then be directed to iTunes or Android Market for downloading. Users can also search “Louisiana State Parks” in their phone’s app store. The app was created at no cost to the state and is equipped with innovative features and detailed park information designed to elevate the quality of a visitor’s experience at any of our State Parks and Historic Sites.

The free version allows users to easily find a state park by location or activity. Users can download campground and detailed facility maps ahead of their visit for use even when mobile service is unavailable. Other features include trail descriptions, social network linking, parks hours and calendars of events, weather condition information and direct access to the online reservation system.

A paid version of the app is also available and includes GPS enabled features that allow visitors to record tracks or mark waypoints. When visitors purchase the paid version, a contribution will go toward the maintenance and expansion of Louisiana’s State Parks and Historic Sites.

For more information on the mobile app or any of the Louisiana State Parks or Historic Sites, visit www.LaStateParks.com.
