Geigerrig Hydration Packs Named Product Of the Year in Great Britain

Ogden, UT, September 27, 2011 — GEIGERRIG Hydration Packs Wins Again, Outdoor Trade Show, Warwickshire – The winners of the hotly anticipated 2011 Novel Awards have been announced at the Outdoor Trade Show (OTS) in Great Britain, and the pressurized GEIGERRIG 2 Liter Hydration Engine (Hydration Pack), with its in-line filtration capability, was not only selected as the winner of the accessory category, but also the coveted Product of the Year award.

Judged by a panel of industry buyers and outdoor experts including Bonita Norris, the youngest British woman to climb Mount Everest, the Geigerrig hydration engine beat off competition from leading brands including Petzl, Vaude and Timberland.

Outdoor Trade Show Organizer Marta Williams noted that, “With over 100 entries, this was the largest number of entries to date for the Novel awards”; and, Bonita Norris, who will soon attempt to ski to the South Pole as part of an all British female team, said: “The Geigerrig stood out immediately as a truly innovative and high quality product.”

Also the winner of the 3M In-New-Vation Award for the Best New Hardgood’s product at the 2011 Winter Outdoor Retailer Show in the United States, the GEIGERRIG Pressurized Hydration Pack continues to win awards world-wide by providing significant improvements and clear solutions to the traditional hydration systems that have been on the market for years.

Traditional hydration packs require the user to suck the water out of the hydration pack via a drink tube. This dramatically limits access and use of water that may be needed for many purposes during outdoor activity and otherwise. Due to the requirement to suck, sharing is difficult unless everyone wants to suck on the same bite valve. Also, it is difficult to expel the water for other important purposes such as cooling and cleaning one’s body and gear. An additional well-know limitation of the traditional hydration pack is that they limit the user to carrying water from a filtered or reliable water source. During outdoor activity, people often run out of water and may need to refill in a stream, a river, a lake or a pond. This is very difficult to do safely with the traditional hydration pack. And finally, anyone who has used a traditional hydration pack knows that they are less than convenient to clean. Often times people simply just buy a new hydration pack every year, or stop using them all together, because they cannot trust the cleanliness of their hydration bladder.

Different than the traditional hydration systems, the GEIGERRIG bladder is a patented two-chamber hydration engine that looks very similar to traditional hydration packs except that internally there is a sealed second chamber that can be pumped up with air for pressurizing the water reservoir. Accordingly, the water sprays out, thus allowing the user to spray to drink, spray to cool, spray to clean, spray to share, etc. Additionally, because the system is pressurized, the GEIGERRIG “Hydration Engine” is adaptable to a plug-and-play, in-line water filter that filters out giardia and cryptosporidium as the water flows through the drink tube to the users mouth. This allows the user to replenish their hydration pack in a river, stream, lake or pond. Finally, the Hydrapak slide top on the GEIGERRIG system provides a very large opening for easy refilling and cleaning. This slide top allows the GEIGERRIG “Hydration Engine” to be turned inside out and cleaned in the top shelf of the dishwasher.

Curt Geiger, President of GEIGERRIG Hydration Packs, said, “Winning these awards is very exciting for us. We are grateful for this recognition and very appreciative of our valued distributor, Whitby and Company, and or our fabricator, Hydrapak, for the great efforts and strides they have both made in just a few short months. Whitby and Company received their samples only weeks before the OTS show. I can’t wait for European consumers to get their hands on a GEIGERRIG hydration system that sprays, filters, and flips inside out for cleaning the top shelf of their dishwasher.”

For convenient use of the water you carry and the water you find along the way, carry a GEIGERRIG hydration system. With a GEIGERRIG, you’ll Never Suck AgainTM.
