    Associate Graphic Designer

    Supervision Received: Position reports to Senior Graphic Designer

    Job Summary: This position’s primary objective as an entry level designer is to work directly with the Senior Graphic Designer to execute the creation and production of 3rd tier projects of the visual presentation of the brand including hangtags, advertising (print & web), tradeshow booth graphics, retail graphics, web graphics, social media assets and promotional items.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties as assigned:

    • Maintains visual consistency throughout all Osprey branding materials through brand design work as identified by the Marketing Team and the Osprey Brand guide
    • Works to maintain consistent design standards across all media including print, web and product
    • Provides creative specific to Osprey brand in outdoor, travel and bike markets
    • Assists with a multitude of projects including product hangtags, advertising (print & web), tradeshow booth graphics, retail graphics, web graphics, social media assets, updating and uploading shared assets to Osprey Brand portals throughout the international market, and promotional items (ie. stickers, clothing, postcards, etc.)
    • Supports Photographer/Videographer as needed with in-house and on-site photo-shoots and photo processing/retouching
    • Connects with and reports weekly to Senior Graphic Designer on design updates
    • Maintains current knowledge of industry trends (outdoor and design) by reviewing professional publications and websites; participating in professional societies if possible.

    Required Education and Experience
    Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university with a Visual Communication/Graphic Design concentration; minimum of one year experience working full-time in a graphic design, advertising or marketing role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Candidates must be able to sketch and concept with direction from Graphic Designers and skillfully convert those materials to digital formats.

    Attention to detail and strong organizational skills needed in order to consistently meet deadlines. Proven ability to effectively work well within a team and take direction. Effective oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

    The successful candidate will possess:

    • A strong understanding of prepress and printing processes and terms
    • Ability to work flexible and extended hours in order to complete projects
    • Working knowledge and understanding of layout, color, typography as it applies to the overall brand message
    • Ability to learn quickly in order to gain understanding of Osprey product line as it applies to the brand and the design work
    • Outdoor recreational experience and industry interest and knowledge is a plus

    Software knowledge (all current versions on Mac platform)

    • Adobe Photoshop: Must be able to accurately correct and apply images for proper use across various mediums
      (ie. design online banners, color correction of product photos, prepare web graphics, etc.)
    • Adobe Illustrator: Many assets are created in AI, therefore taking concepts and creative vector based graphics is a crucial part of our design direction.
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    Physical Ability—Level II (Warehouse/Physical) The Team Member will be expected to: perform physical activities involving extended periods of lifting, walking, standing, reaching, and bending over; lift 40 pounds overhead without assistance; work in an office environment for extended hours of sitting, performing PC and other desk-related functions

    Compensation and Benefits:

    Hiring Range: $30,000 – $38,000; depending on experience and qualifications.  Participation in: group health plans, Paid Time Off (PTO) program, 1-day Position Specific PTO, 401k plan (eligibility after one year), all other benefits as described in current Team Member Manual.

    Required Meetings and Time/Travel
    Participation in all Department and general company meetings/functions, and others relating to special assignments, as required.  May be required to work outside of normal work hours or attend offsite training/business functions.

    Location: This is a full time position based at the Osprey Headquarters in Cortez, Colorado U.S.A..
