TYR Sport Inc. has a great opportunity for a Textile Artist who will be responsible for creating original two-dimensional designs, drawings, and typography for apparel and accessories.

This is an on-site position on Long Island. Please apply only if you are interested in working on Long Island.

Responsibilities include:

• Amending, re-coloring, resizing and editing existing prints/artwork and colorways.
• Researching vintage resources, competitor websites, runway shows, style websites and fashion magazines for trend inspirations and then translating into original designs, repeats, and colorways.
• Color matching and updating digital color palettes for each season.
• Designing original screen and digital prints using illustration techniques.
• Sending prints – Preparing print packages.
• Utilizing traditional hand-sketching and painting techniques in conjunction with Photoshop and Illustrator, to execute graphic and textile designs.
• Notating print changes and other functional office duties necessary to keep a balanced and organized work environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Graphic or Textile Design
• 2-3 years design studio experience at an apparel manufacturer or textile company.
• Must have the ability to create prints from original design concepts, inspiration and trends and work with illustrators to create repeats and colorways.
• Must be familiar with screen printing/graphic treatment techniques and understand how graphic prints translate onto different products
• Strong eye for detail, color, design, and composition.
• Strong sense of contemporary market and overall trend in fashion.
• Technical efficiency and proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (Mac Platform).
• Self-motivated and also a team player.
• Highly organized with a good work ethic and lots of energy/ great attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
• The ability to hand draw and hand paint will be a plus.
