    Director of E-Commerce

    The Director of E-Commerce will envision and drive the evolution of our global e-commerce business platform. This includes establishing the global positioning of Burton’s E-commerce business; leading assortment planning; and engaging consumers with exciting and creative promotional campaigns.

    The Director of E-Commerce will be Burton’s digital leader and collaborate with senior leaders across marketing, merchandising, supply chain, information technology to assure a cohesive and leading strategy for the E-commerce business. He/she will lead a team the focuses on omni-channel technology, transactional e-commerce platforms, and digital brand implementation.

    Essential Functions (other duties may be assigned):

    • Establish global vision and strategy for E-commerce business; working collaboratively with regional offices to drive top-line results.
    • Create and hold P&L responsibility for a fearless digital flagship which will act as the single largest customer engagement/transaction platform and be responsible for an omni-channel brand proliferation.
    • Cross functional partnerships with marketing, sales, product, finance, and operations to manage financial objectives, increased conversion rates, improved margin performance, and enhanced product storytelling.
    • Deliver inspiring brand content in addition to a premium and engaging merchandised product assortment.
    • Embody a “maximalist,” standout experience that both drives true demand and acts as an intuitive shopping interface that converts customer intent to sales and drives lasting CRM/Loyalty.
    • Develop an exceptional team that feed off each other, including: internal resources, the Digital AOR, freelancers and consultants.
    • Ensure seamless integration between digital entities and brick & mortar, print media and event-driven properties.
    • Develop a metric-based plan to deliver against consumer awareness goals and digital sales targets.

    Qualified candidates will possess the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing and/or relevant field and 8+ years experience in E-Commerce. Master’s degree preferred.

    • Strong business development, leadership and presentation skills.
    • Sociological understanding of target demographic consumer behavior,
    • Global business understanding and e-commerce implementation experience.
    • Deep digital e-commerce experience within either outdoor/action sports, fashion/apparel, retail or consumer-facing services.
    • Product assortment planning and merchandising management experience.
    • Command of consumer analytics mining tools and the resulting output.
    • Hands-on digital marketing strategy and management including branded platform design, social media, display advertising, e-commerce design and execution (through fulfillment).
    • Strong technical experience including oversight of web design, construction and e-commerce integration, SEO, user experience, social media deployment, database building.
    • Familiarity with native and leading digital and social analytics tools (i.e. Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, Radian6, Topsy, Piquora, Nitrogram).
    • Strong experience & understanding of Demandware Preferred.
