When you need a dry suit to descend 180 miles of whitewater through the desolate canyons of India’s “land of high passes,” there’s no settling for second best.
Kokatat has partnered with renowned paddler and documentarian Gerry Moffatt as he films “The Roof of the World.” Fully equipped with Kokatat whitewater gear, Moffatt will embark on a 100-day, 3,000 mile Himalayan expedition of paddling, mountain trekking and motorcycle touring aboard his trusty Royal Enfield.

Moffat will be using Kokatat’s GORE-TEX Meridian dry suit with a custom-tailored fit and individualized features, created through Kokatat’s online customization program. The Ronin Pro PFD rounds out Moffat’s paddling kit, preparing him fully for the challenging conditions he expects to face.
“For over 20 years, I’ve paddled a multitude of first descents around the world wearing Kokatat dry suits and they’ve made it possible for me to survive savage conditions in the most remote locations,” said Moffatt. “I’ll be soloing 180 miles of the Tsarap and Zanskar rivers on this expedition and I wouldn’t consider doing it in anything but a Meridian dry suit.”
Produced by Thunder Dragon Media as a multi-platform release combining film, digital, and print publishing, “The Roof of the World,” will document an old-fashioned overland adventure, weaving in stories about social change and hope in the communities of this legendary region. Moffatt reflects on three decades of living and guiding there and the changes he’s seen from increasing tourism, environmental changes, political policies and population growth. Along the way, he seeks out local heroes working to make a difference.
Thunder Dragon Media and Atlantic Productions, Ltd. are co-producing a new interactive digital geo-mapping experience that will include short videos, stunning photography, and wrap-around cultural, musical and historical explorations of the expedition’s route.
“The Roof of the World” will be the first of a series of similarly produced expeditions using Royal Enfield motorcycles to explore other legendary destinations around the world – the South American Andes, the North American and Canadian Rockies and the Australian Outback, among others.
