    Surfers Honor Legend Hobie Alter in Paddle Out

    A paddle-out was held to honor surfing legend Hobart “Hobie” Alter who died in March after a battle with cancer at the age of 80. Alter was commonly called the “Henry Ford of Surfing,” as he created Hobie Surfboards before eventually moving into other markets such as skateboarding and sailing.

    Hundreds of surfers gathered for the paddle out memorial on Friday at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, California. Check out the video of the paddle out below:
