    Bomber Gear Shows Major Investment and Commitment to Paddling Community with 2014 Sponsorships

    Bomber Gear, manufacturer of premium paddling apparel and sprayskirts, is supporting events, films, and teams in 2014 in whitewater, touring and SUP categories, as well as environmental and community organizations. Bomber Gear has expanded its product offerings over the past two years to include women’s, SUP, and kayak touring apparel in addition to extreme whitewater gear, and the brand’s 2014 sponsorships mirror its commitment to all types of watersports.

    “The 2014 events, films, and organizations that Bomber Gear is sponsoring reflect the brand’s relevance for any type of paddling, whether it’s stand up paddling on a lake, kayak touring on the ocean, or competing at a river festival in a raft or whitewater kayak,” said Jessica Prescott, marketing manager for Bomber Gear. “Bomber Gear’s products keep all types of paddlers warm and dry, letting them learn, explore, compete and have fun on the water without worrying about the elements.     Events

    Banff Mountain Film Festival – South East  (March and April 2014) – Celebrating mountain culture, the Banff Mountain Film Festival showcases some of the best adventure films from around the globe. Bomber Gear will be sponsoring the event in Columbia and Greenville,S.C., March 19-22 and Savannah and Athens, Ga., April 1-4.

    GoPro Mountain Games (June 5-8, 2014). The GoPro Mountain Games, held in Vail, Colo., are the nation’s largest celebration of the outdoor lifestyle, including adventure sports, art, and mountain culture. Professional and amateur athletes from around the world will be competing in a variety paddling events such as the full-contact, 8 Ball Kayak Sprint, Steep Creek Championship, SUP SurfCross, SUP Surf Sprint and the Freestyle Kayak Competition.

    North Fork Championships (June 12-14, 2014). The North Fork Championships, held on the North Fork of the Payette River in Idaho, consists of three races designed to expose the talent of the best kayakers in the world on an amazing stretch of whitewater. Former top racers vote in applicants to ensure that only the best and most able kayakers will compete in these challenging courses.

    King of New York (July – October, 2014) – The King of New York race series is a collection of New York State’s most exciting grassroots down-river events. The point-based series builds on the tradition of pick-up racing at whitewater festivals across New York State. Points will be awarded for finishes at community-organized races on the Black, Beaver, Raquette, and Moose rivers. The winner will be crowned King of New York at the Moose River Festival and will win a Bomber Gear K-Bomb Octopod Spray Skirt and a Dagger Green Boat.

    New Haven Race (April 12, 2014). Hosted by the Vermont Paddler’s Club and the UVM Kayak Club, the New Haven Race in Bristol, Vermont is held on a section of the New Haven River called The Ledges. The winner of the race will take home a Bomber Gear Bomb Dry Top.

    Organizations

    American Whitewater – American’s Whitewater’s efforts protect and preserve rivers across the United States for . Bomber Gear is donating products to American Whitewater fundraisers including Deerfield Fest, Feather Fest, and Gauley Fest to support the organization’s river conservation and access works.

    First Descents – Founded by professional kayaker Brad Ludden, First Descents offers young adult cancer fighters and survivors a free outdoor adventure experience designed to empower them to climb, paddle and surf beyond their diagnosis, defy their cancer, reclaim their lives and connect with others doing the same.

    Red Lady Rafting – The U.S. Women’s National Champion Rafting Team, Red Lady Rafting, will be wearing Bomber Gear this year as they compete to represent the U.S. Events include Nationals (May 2-3), Mother’s Day Rio Grande Race near Taos, N.M, (May 10), the Golden Games (May 17-18) and the CKS Paddlefest (May 23-24).

    Active Nature Adventures – Professional kayaker and Team Bomber Gear athlete Jason Beakes and fitness guru Kathy Summers have teamed up to create Active Nature Adventures which specializes in integrated fitness training through kayaking and stand up paddle boarding on the Potomac River and surrounding National Parks. Active Nature seeks to provide adventurous and life-affirming outdoor experiences to challenge participants physically and emotionally. Bomber Gear supports this type of on-water wellness movement and is sponsoring the organization with dry tops and sprayskirts for participants to use.

    Video Projects

    7 Finger Media – Team Dagger Athlete, Gareth Tate will be filming a multi sport series that will incorporate several adventure sports in addition to kayaking. Bomber Gear products will be used in production, keeping the team dry and warm while filming in cold places.
