    Category Manager – Blackburn

    The Category Manager serves as the business unit manager for Blackburn with full P & L responsibility. This role leads development of long term business strategies and plans, directs, and coordinates product line planning for a full range of bicycle accessories. This position develops product and pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing the firm’s profits or share of the market while ensuring the brand’s customers and consumers are satisfied. This position oversees product management and coordinates closely with Brand Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance and Product Creation.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Lead cross functional team through line planning, Innovation Road (product development) and Go To Market process.
    • Identify, develop, and evaluate product marketing strategy, based on knowledge of brand objectives, competitors, market characteristics, and cost and markup factors.
    • Partner with sales to ensure the sales and profitability of products, analyzing business developments and monitoring market trends.
    • Work across quality, operations and supply chain to ensure high quality product shipped on time.
    • Participate in customer line reviews, presentations and trade shows.
    • Coordinate with brand marketing to promote brand and product to customers and consumers.
    • Develop pricing strategies, balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
    • Direct the hiring, training, or performance evaluations of product marketing staff and oversee their daily activities.
    • Evaluate the financial aspects of product development, such as budgets, expenditures, research and development.

    EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

    • BA in Marketing or Business Management or equivalent work experience
    • 5-7 years experience in product development or product management
    • 3 years experience managing a team
    • Computer Skills – Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
    • Experience in the cycling industry desired
    • Personal passion for cycling and the outdoors

    • Ability to travel, including two to three (1-2) multi-week trips to Asia and Europe annually
